Runway, Taxiway, and Threshold Lighting @ NRRA

 

Description: The runway, taxiway, and threshold lights operated from dusk to dawn. The 45 watt quartz lights can also be controlled remotely by pilots by clicking their microphone 3, 5, or 7 times on a frequency of 122.975 MHz. The lights are preset on low intensity, but can be increased to a higher intensity with the 7 clicks.

Purpose: The lights mark the beginning, sides, and end of the runway, as well as main taxiways.

Location: The lights are located along runway 14-32 and are powered by a constant current regulator located in the airport maintenance building located next to the automobile parking lot.  The taxiway lighting is also powered by a separate constant current regulator located in the same building. 

Cost: Each one of the 62 lights costs approximately $140.  The regulators cost approximately $20,000 each
