FUEL PRICES
The price of flying just became a little bit cheaper over the weekend.  Griggs Aviation, the fuel provider at the airport, just lowered the self-service avgas price to $5.05 per gallon.  Self-service jet fuel also dropped to an impressive $4.33 per gallon.  Full-service via truck is also available anywhere on the airport for an additional $.25 per gallon.  The national average price of avgas is $5.83 and jet is $5.48.  You can check the latest local prices at www.airnav.com/airport/krnh

COMMISSION MEETING
The New Richmond Regional Airport Commission will be meeting on Thursday, October 6th at 6 PM in the business aviation terminal on the north end of the airport.  The main topic is the airport budget for 2012.  Right now, the budget is looking to be exactly the same as 2011.

TEMPORARY RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY CLOSURES

Work crews will be at the airport within the next two weeks to repair the joints in the runway and repair the various cracks in the parallel taxiway and taxilanes at the airport.  A NOTAM will be issued for the closure at least 12 hours in advance.  The NOTAM will indicate the runway will be closed for a period of time but will be open with 20 minutes PPR (prior permission required) by calling me at 715-246-7735 if you need to get in or out.

FLY-IN 2012
The fly-in for next year is planned for Saturday, June 23rd.  The event will include a fly-in lunch from 11-2, a possible take-off and landing competition at 1, and many more events aimed at getting more community members to the airport, including a 5k run around the airport, a flea market or auction, and a car show.  Details to follow . . .

SPECIAL THANKS
The Village of Grantsburg, Wisconsin voted to re-direct a $150,000 FAA grant from their airport to New Richmond Regional Airport last month.  Grantsburg indicated they were unable to meet the obligations attached to the FAA grant.  After several discussions with the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics by the parties involved, the funds were transferred.  The funds will be immediately put to work in New Richmond by applying them to a loan NRRA used in securing additional property on the north end of the airport in 2008.  Thank you to the Grantsburg Village Board for your assistance and generosity!

SMALL PROJECTS
The segmented circle around the windsock near the approach end of 32 was repainted last week.  A considerable amount of brush removal will occur along the shoreline of Hatfield Lake this fall, hopefully with the help of the inmates from the local correctional center.  Several boxelder trees will be removed near the northeast gate to the airport near the Spring Point facility.
