FLY-IN
Yesterday, NRMA hosted a pancake breakfast fly-in. Thanks to all who helped out! Even though the weather was a bit on the blustery side, we still managed to make a profit of around $175 or so. Temperatures hovering around 40 degrees throughout the morning, along with a nice northeast wind, led to a less than enjoyable experience. The ceiling actually made it up to about 900 feet before it started to rain. At least it didn't snow.

FUEL PRICES
The price for avgas at Griggs Aviation took a $.10 jump last week. 100 low-lead is now $2.09 per gallon. Jay Griggs stated his wholesale price jumped up $.20 with the last tanker load of fuel. Jet A is still selling for a tremendously low price of $1.79 per gallon. The fuel prices at NRMA are still near the lowest in the region. Avfuel is selling for around $3.75 in Florida and $3.50 around Chicago.

SAFETY SEMINAR
Make plans to attend the free FAA Aviation Safety Seminar on the campus of WITC-New Richmond on Wednesday, May 2nd. The seminar will be held from 7am until 10pm. If you are planning to fly to NRMA and need transport to WITC, send me an e-mail. I'll make sure you have a ride. Please help spread the word about this upcoming event!

CLOSED RUNWAY
The 2100' x 75' grass runway (4-22) at NRMA remains closed until further notice. The area where runway 4-22 intersects the newly installed parallel taxiway to runway 14-32 remains very soft, especially after the 2.71 inches of rain we had over the past 30 hours. Hopefully we will be able to reopen the runway by mid-May.

NEW ENGINEER
Congratulations to airport engineer Mark Arnold of the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics on his recent promotion to supervisor in the airport engineering section. Mark served as the engineer for NRMA since 1992. Mark was involved in several projects at NRMA, including the 1992 runway construction, 2000 taxiway and hangar construction, AWOS installation, and zoning ordinance formation. Mark made dozens of trips to New Richmond to assist in the development of the airport. Another engineer from the BOA will be assigned to NRMA in the near future.

TAXILANE PROJECT
Next Monday, April 30th, the taxilane between hangar rows 3 and 4 in the south hangar area at NRMA is scheduled for reconstruction. The taxilane pavement dates back to the late 1960's and has become unrepairable. The pavement will be pulverized and compacted to make a stronger base. Drainage issues near 3 or 4 hangars in the area will also be addressed. Monarch Paving should have the project completed within 1 week. Please plan ahead if you need to use the taxilane. Access to the area will be limited during the reconstruction process.

NORTH HANGAR AREA UPDATE
18 leases have been issued for the north hangar area at NRMA thus far. The construction project last summer opened up approximately 35 new hangar spaces west of the departure end of runway 32. An updated layout can be viewed from the hangar construction page at http://www.nrairport.com/new%20hangars.htm

SEA-PLANE RAMP
The ice is off Hatfield Lake and the wood ramp is now in the water. The sea-plane ramp at NRMA is now ready for use. Bob Menier from hangar 1-1 was the first to get his floats wet this year. Make sure you're careful out there, however. The water level on Hatfield is still considerably lower than two years ago.

Don't forget, the common traffic advisory frequency at NRMA is now 122.975 and the AWOS frequency is 120.0.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS

May 24th - Airport Commission meeting in hangar 6-1 (cookout following the meeting)
