WORK BEGINS
Inmates from the St. Croix Correctional Center began working at the airport this morning. The inmates will be clearing brush, applying a fresh coat of Round-up to anything green, painting everything that can possibly be painted, and constructing new taxiway markers over the next four days.

OIL COLLECTION
Two weekends ago, Bob Swanda and myself collected nearly four-hundred gallons of used aviation oil from the various hangars around the airport and brought it to the recycling center. Bob had the idea of having an oil collection point on the airport so we recycle the oil more often instead of storing it. Plans are underway for a waste oil collection site near the airport rotating beacon. The barrels will be emptied every month or so. The collection point should be available for use by the end of the month.

4TH OF JULY
The fireworks will once again be launced from airport property on the 4th. The fireworks will be launched from a new spot this year - along Hatfield Lake on the point south of the hangar area instead of the seaplane ramp. New hangar construction near the seaplane ramp forced the move. . Approximately 1,500 people watch the fireworks from the airport each year. Parking is limited - the best spots are taken by 8 PM or so.

COMMISSION MEETING
An airport commission meeting is still planned for this month - either the 22nd or 29th. We always have a cook-out after the meetings - please try to attend.

ROTARY MEETING
If you are in the area...the airport will be the featured topic at the New Richmond Rotary meeting next Monday at Suzanna's Restaurant in NR. The meeting starts at 11:45.
