NICE TURNOUT
Approximately 1100 people were at the airport on the 4th for the fireworks display. Airplane rides and refreshments were offered during the late afternoon and evening. Fifty people were given airplane rides. About $450 was raised from the food sales and rides. The money will be used towards the cost of the automated weather observation station (AWOS) set for installation this year. A special THANK YOU! to everyone who helped out with the event.
CHECK YOU AIRCRAFT LOGS
Several aircraft owners have inquired about transponder checks in New Richmond. Last year Aircraft Electronics out of Anoka performed about a dozen transponder checks here at the airport out of their mobile avionics unit. If enough owners are interested, we can call over and have them send the mobile avionics unit back to NRMA sometime in the next few weeks. Please send an e-mail to mike@nrairport.com or give me a call if you are interested.
HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION
Road construction on STH 65 from New Richmond to Star Prairie, is set to begin today. The DOT was placing detour signs out today. The stretch of 65 from the airport entrance to STH 64 is set to be repaved. The area north of the airport entrance is set to be widened and repaved. Access to the airport may be restricted at times.
AIRPORT FLOWERS
I hope everyone has noticed the flowers around the welcome to New Richmond sign on the south side of the ramp and the purple flowers in the planter near the parking lot. The credit for the good work goes to Mary Demulling. Thanks mom!
NDB OUTAGE
The non-directional beacon at the airport went out-of-service at about 3:00 am last night. A NOTAM was issued for the outage. Maintenance personnel will be in town tomorrow to make repairs.
SEVERE STORM
Just in case you were wondering...the storm that blew through the airport on Monday afternoon dumped 3/4 of an inch of rain in less than 30 minutes and had peak gusts of 35 knots.
WINDSOCK UNLIGHTED
The windsock is once again unlighted. Parts are on order. The lights should be back on by the end of the week.
CONGRATULATIONS!
NRMA has two new private pilots this month - Todd Littfin from Hudson and Monte Weeks from Star Prairie.
JUST A REMINDER
Fuel prices at NRMA are still only $1.64 for 100LL and $1.29 for Jet A!
