IT LOOKS WORSE THAN IT REALLY IS
The Wisconsin DOT is reconstructing state highway 65 in front of the airport. Newly placed "Road Closed" signs now appear at the intersection of STH 64 & 65 north, as well as at the intersection of STH 65 & 210th Ave. You have to weave your way through the signs to make it the 1/2 mile to Airport Road. If you are coming from the Star Prairie area (from the north), your best bet is to take Wall Street (CTH C) south to Industrial Blvd, then take STH 65 north to the airport. The DOT assures me access to the airport will remain open during the construction.
CITABRIA FLY-IN
A meeting of those individuals interested in helping with the Citabria Owners Group fly-in/convention July 24th & 25th, will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 pm in hangar 61 at the airport. Several people have already volunteered to help - we could still use more, however. Please try to attend the meeting or contact me at mike@nrairport.com if you are interested in helping.
CHECK YOUR AIRCRAFT LOGS
Don't forget - transponder checks will be available in NR if we get enough aircraft owners interested. Send an e-mail to: mike@nrairport.com if you are interested.
NDB OUTAGE
I reported last week the NDB is out-of-service. The airport has a maintenance & repair contract for the NDB with a company out of Superior. Last night, an individual from the maintenance company left me a not-so-encouraging message on my voice mail. He stated he had to remove the NDB and take it back to the shop because "It looks pretty serious and pretty expensive to fix." More info to follow next week.
COMPUTER TESTING
FAA Knowledge Exams and FCC Exams can now be taken at NRMA. A computer testing center opened up this month at the airport. Exams offered include: Recreational pilot, private pilot, commercial pilot, instrument rating, airline transport pilot, airframe and powerplant, and flight and ground instructor. The test center is operated by Mike Demulling. To schedule an exam call 246-7735.
ROTATING BEACON SERVICED
New lightbulbs (80 bucks each) were installed in the rotating beacon at the airport today.
JUST A REMINDER
Fuel prices at NRMA are still only $1.64 for 100LL and $1.29 for Jet A!
