THANKS FOR STOPPING
Thank you to everyone who attended the Airport Commission meeting last Tuesday at the airport. Commission meetings are typically held at the Civic Center in New Richmond during the winter months and in hangar 61 at the airport during the summer months. Everyone is always welcome to attend. Firing-up the airport grill has become a tradition after each meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for late May.
PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND!!
Try to attend the public hearing on the amended Airport Zoning Ordinance on Thursday, April 6th at 5 PM in the Civic Center in New Richmond. Input from airport users is needed. The new ordinance will prohibit residential development near the ends of the runways at NRMA. If you can't make it to the meeting, I will accept written comments. Comments must be received by Wednesday, April 5th at 5 PM. Just send me an e-mail. If you're interested in seeing our present zoning ordinance, go to: http://www.lwm-info.org/legal/ordinance/ord60.html
RUNWAY 4-22 IS OPEN
For the first time since mid-February, runway 4-22 (2100' x 75', grass) is now open for use. The runway was closed due to soft field conditions. The runway was set to open last week, but the soil boring crews doing prep work for the summer construction project needed to work on and near the runway, thus delaying the reopening until last Saturday.
NO NRMA NEWS NEXT WEEK
Next Monday and Tuesday I will be out of town attending the Wisconsin Aviation Conference in Stevens Point. The NRMA News will not be sent out next week, but will return the week of the 17th.
CITY PLANNING
NRMA is participating in comprehensive planning sessions for the city of New Richmond. All city department supervisors are outlining the needs of their departments for the next several years. The Airport Commission and a planning committee consisting of city council members and department supervisors, will be working together over the next several months to outline plans for the future.
