AIRPORT PROJECT UPDATE
"It's on schedule" according to one of the on-site engineers at NRMA. This week, work started on the storm sewer and airport access road. The connecting taxiways from runway 14-32 to the parallel taxiway are scheduled to begin this week. The airport will be closed for a couple of hours late this week while the work is completed. If all goes well, pavement will still go in during mid-October. Check the Notam (Notices to airmen) board in the pilot lounge in the Griggs Aviation hangar for the latest info on airport closures or go to http://www.notams.jcs.mil/ and type in KRNH under the flight safety notam section.

BUILDING A HANGAR?
If you are thinking about building a hangar, check-out the new NRMA hangar info page. The page has links and phone numbers for area hangar builders, door companies, concrete and asphalt companies, insulation, etc. There are still a few hangar spaces available for lease at NRMA. If you are interested in leasing a hangar space - send me an e-mail. The hangar info page can be accessed from the news section of the NRMA web site.

THE BIG QUESTION
What's your opinion on using sand on runway 14-32 this winter during periods when braking action is poor or worse? I've heard it from both sides. Some love it, some hate it. Please let me know what you think.

INMATES & TREES
Last week, I mentioned we had plenty of firewood if anyone wanted it. Not anymore - it's gone. The St. Croix Correctional Center in New Richmond took 3 very-full dump truck loads away last Friday. An inmate crew cut-up the six trees into 10' logs. The Correctional Center has a rather large wood pile on their grounds. Inmates who are lacking a bit of discipline at SCCC are given the opportunity to turn the 10' logs into 1' logs through a little manual labor..

FUEL PRICES
Avgas and jet fuel prices are still only $1.99 for 100LL and $1.49 for Jet A.
