THE DARKEST DAYS IN THE HISTORY OF GENERAL AVIATION - BREAKING NEWS!
The past week was a bit on the difficult side for everyone involved in aviation. Today, much of the general aviation fleet remains grounded. Good news is on the way, however. According to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, a new Notice to Airmen will be issued sometime after 3 PM today announcing some type of relief for those pilots who are still grounded. I will post updates to the main page of nrairport.com http://www.nrairport.com as soon as I receive them.

Also...the FAA sent an advisory to all airport managers regarding airport and aircraft security. Quite simply, the FAA is requesting everyone - airport users, hangar owners, managers, employees - be on the lookout for anything unusual. Watch for: individuals loitering for extended periods in the vicinity of parked aircraft, persons who appear to be under the control of other individuals, and anything that doesn't fit the normal pattern of activity at the airport. The FAA is requesting you contact your local law enforcement office immediately if you need to report anything suspicious. Aircraft owners are requested to remove the keys from your aircraft after you are done flying and hangar owners are requested to keep your hangar locked when it is not attended. A few months ago, I would have placed the odds on terrorist involvement at general aviation airports at zero. After the FBI called me twice last week asking whether I trained any foreign pilots, I quickly realized the odds are not at zero anymore. Please do whatever you can to make NRMA and other general aviation airports safe.

AIRPORT COMMISSION MEETING
The annual budget meeting for NRMA will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 6:30 PM in hangar 6-1 at the Airport. The proposed 2002 budget will be presented to the Commission for their review. As always, a cook-out will be held after the meeting. Everyone is invited to attend. The meeting will probably be the last one of the year held at the airport.

AIRPORT MAINTENANCE
Pavement crack-filling crews were at NRMA a few weeks ago repairing cracks in the taxi-lane between hangar rows five and six, as well as the western portion of Airport Road. Over 1.5 tons of rubberized crack filling material was used to repair the damaged pavement. The taxi-lane between rows 3 and 4 will be reconstructed within the next month, also.

NEW LIGHTS
Work crews are nearing completion on the installation of seven security lights on the north hangar area. The project should be finished tomorrow.

FUEL PRICES
Fuel prices at NRMA are still only $2.19 for 100LL and $1.79 for Jet A.

Don't forget, the common traffic advisory frequency at NRMA is now 122.975 and the AWOS frequency is 120.0.
