ANGEL FLIGHT COMES TO NRMA
NRMA, along with four other northern Wisconsin airports, became Angel Flight coordinator locations earlier this month. Angel Flight is a non-profit organization that arranges free private air travel on behalf of people in non-emergency medical need or for reasons of compassion and community service. The organization has flown people with chronic disorders to hospitals around the Midwest for treatment. They have flown a dying father to witness his son's wedding, a young boy to see the mountains, and reunited a family with their father after he had an accident in another state. Since 1995, they have flown over 4000 people some 1 million charitable miles. Information about the Angel Flight system was sent to various hospitals, clinics, and churches in St. Croix County this week. If those organizations find a person who qualifies for a free flight, they contact Angel Flight Central (AFC) in Kansas City. AFC then contacts the local coordinator (me) who arranges a flight with local pilots. For more information on Angel Flight or to become a volunteer pilot or ground support person, go to http://www.nrairport.com/angelflight/angelflight.htm

ECONOMIC IMPACT
NRMA was the subject of a feature article appearing in the New Richmond News last week. Bob Zientara, Managing Editor of the weekly newspaper, did an excellent job of letting the public know the importance of an airport. To view the online version of the story, go to http://www.rivertowns.net/daily/nrn/c020402/#s020402a . Also, an economic impact survey was sent to the eight airport businesses in early April. The Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics is compiling the information. Results of the survey should be available soon.

28 OUT OF 33 IN 18
The north hangar area at NRMA continues to fill at record-breaking speed. The north hangar area project was completed some 18 months ago. Thus far, twenty-eight out of the original 33 hangar spaces are leased. The north hangar layout, frequently asked questions page, and the list of hangar construction companies page have all been updated. They can be viewed at http://www.nrairport.com/new%20hangars.htm . Seventy-three hangar lots are now leased in both hangar areas at NRMA. One 60' by 54' deep hangar and four 50' by 50' hangar spaces remain. Contact me if you are interested in leasing a hangar lot.

UPCOMING PROJECTS
NRMA has several small, but important projects planned for this spring.
- The taxilanes between rows 1 and 2 and rows 3 and 4 will be pulverized, compacted, and repaved.
- Repairs to damaged pavement will occur on the taxilanes between rows 5 and 6 and rows 11 and 12.
- A new 30-foot, "L" shaped floating dock is planned for the seaplane base located on the south side of the airport.
- Two additional remote location security cameras will be installed in May
- The grass runway, 4-22, will be de-thatched, top seeded, and fertilized within the next few weeks

SAFETY SEMINAR
Make plans to attend the Aviation Safety "Wings" Seminar on Tuesday, April 30th. The seminar will be held at the New Richmond High School Theatre on the south side of New Richmond from 7 until 10 PM. Speakers from the Minneapolis office of the FAA, Minneapolis Air Traffic Control Tower, Department of Transportation, and Princeton Automated Flight Service Station will present all new material vital to pilots of all levels. Several door prizes will be presented, including gift certificates for free avgas, shirts, hats, etc. A few hangar construction companies will have brochures and handouts, too. Transportation from the airport will be available to pilots who fly in - just make sure you give me a call or send me an e-mail first - 715-246-7735. For directions and additional info, go to http://www.nrairport.com

NATURAL GAS
Exel Energy is working on plans for supplying the north hangar area with natural gas this spring. If you have a hangar lot leased on the north end of the airport and want natural gas service, please contact me - I will add your name to the list.

HANGAR SPACE FOR RENT
If you are looking for hangar space, give me a call. I was contacted by two hangar owners last week who have a few spaces available.

Don't forget, the common traffic advisory frequency at NRMA is now 122.975 and the AWOS frequency is 120.0.
