MAKING IT SMOOTHER
Runway 14-32 at New Richmond Municipal Airport (NRMA) is undergoing a few days of repair work. The runway will be closed from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd and Thursday, September 4th. Friday the 5th may have a closure, also. Personnel from the New Richmond Street Department are saw-cutting damaged pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. The Notice to Airmen issued by the FAA states the runway can be used during the closure if prior permission is received. If you need to use runway 14-32 during the closure, call me at 715-246-7735 and we'll try hard to get you in or out.
FINALLY
We've waited six years for this - NRMA is finally getting new instrument approach procedures! The GPS runway 32 approach is being deleted and being replaced by an all new RNAV (GPS) 32. The new minimum descent altitude (MDA) is 384 feet above ground level, down from the previous MDA of 540 feet. The GPS overlay of the NDB 14 approach is also being deleted. The NDB 14 approach will still exist, but with a new, lower MDA of 624 feet instead of 720 feet. An all new RNAV (GPS) 14 approach is being added. MDA on the new approach is 444 feet. The Class E airspace around NRMA is also in the process of being expanded in order to accommodate the new approaches. Expect to see the new approaches in the October 30, 2003 edition of the US Terminal Procedures. To get a sneak peak of the new approaches: http://www.nrairport.com/iap.htm
NATIONAL AIR TOUR
Two-dozen vintage airplanes from the 1920's and 30's will be crossing over NRMA September 10th. The aircraft are part of the National Air Tour and they'll be making a stop at the Anoka County Airport on September 10th and 11th. You will have a chance to see Ford tri-motors, Stinson tri-motors, and aircraft with names like Travel Air, WACO, Paramount, Curtiss, New Standard and Eaglerock. GETTING RID OF USED OIL
Bill Hart, owner of hangar 2-1, announced a recycling company is coming to his hangar on Friday, September 5th to pick-up used aircraft oil. If you have any used oil that needs disposal, bring it to Bill's hangar in sealed containers before September 5th.
