South hangar Recon Project
Thursday, June 5th update -
Paving will wrap up today. This morning, crews were paving between taxilanes and hangar aprons - a labor intensive practice. The taxilane between rows 9 and 10, the seaplane ramp, and Airport Road are next up.
The fuel pumps are accessible. We still encourage aircraft owners to tow their aircraft to the pumps rather than taxi up to them due to numerous construction equipment in the area.
Temporary APPROACH MINIMUMS to runway 14
Effective May 28th, the FAA flight procedures office is temporarily raising the decision height and minimum descent altitudes for the RNAV 14 approach at the airport for the next couple of weeks. Pilots must temporarily adhere to the circling minimums of 542’ above ground level. A recent FAA flight check revealed two trees are encroaching into the protected airspace near the approach end of runway 14. One tree is 9.3’ and the other is 5.4’ into the airspace. The airport is coordinating the trimming of the trees.
Severe Storms - May 15th
Three tornadoes were spotted in the New Richmond area on the afternoon of May 15th. The nearest tornado was approximately 5 miles south of the airport. The NWS reported one of the tornadoes was an EF-2. The airport was spared for the most part. A lightning strike took out a precision approach path indicator (PAPI) light box near the approach end of runway 32. The unit was repaired and back in service by 9:15 PM on the 15th. The airport also picked up a half inch of much needed rain. Peak wing gust was reported at 48 knots by the airport automated weather station.

Hangar Lot Lease - New Expiration Date
Good news! The airport commission passed a motion at their regular meeting on February 26th to amend the lease end date for all hangar lot leases at the airport. All hangar owners will be receiving a lease amendment that will extend the current leases another twenty years making the new lease end date June 30, 2040. Watch for an email with the amendment attached. Sign it and return it to Airport Manager Mike Demulling via email or USPS.

New visitor website
The City of New Richmond launched a new visitor website in late February. https://visitnewrichmondwi.org/ . The site is amazing and highlights events, dining options, and places worth checking out in New Richmond. East Metro Jet Center has three crew cars available along with rental cars for transient pilots to use to get to the many events listed on the site.
